Voices from Participants Who Have Been Through Our Programs
We believe the most useful measure of our work is whether participants leave with something they actually use. Here is what some of them have shared.
â Back to HomeTheir Words, Not Ours
"I attended the Expense Tracking Bootcamp with real uncertainty about whether one day could change anything. It did. Not because of anything dramatic, but because I finally had a system that matched how I actually liveânot some template designed for someone else. Three months later I am still using it."
"My family has held gold for many years, but I never really understood how it fit into a bigger picture. The Gold and Precious Metals program gave me that contextâwithout pushing me toward any particular conclusion. I left with a much clearer sense of what I actually have and what it means."
"As an expat, I have found most financial education material irrelevant to my situation in Thailand. Duang Chai actually understands the Thai contextâand they did not assume I had a pension or UK financial background shaping everything. I felt the program was genuinely designed for where I am, not where I am from."
"The Pre-Retirement program was quite different from what I expected. I came thinking it would tell me what to do. Instead, it helped me work out what I actually wantâand then see whether the numbers support that. The written plan I received at the end has been genuinely useful to refer back to."
"What I appreciated most was that the educators did not pretend to have all the answers. When something depended on personal circumstances, they said soâand pointed toward what kind of professional could help with that specific question. That honesty made me trust everything else they said much more."
"I am already retired, and I joined the gold program mostly out of curiosity about how my savings accounts compared to what I could have chosen differently. It was a useful exercise, even at my stage. The group was small enough that my questionsâwhich were rather different from others'âstill got real answers."
A Closer Look at What Participants Worked Through
Two Income Streams, No Clear Picture
A self-employed participant in her early fifties had multiple income sources from freelance consulting work, a rental property, and occasional project-based income. She had no consistent way of understanding her month-to-month financial position and described the experience as "guessing."
A Category System Built for Variable Income
During the Expense Tracking Bootcamp, her educator helped her design a category structure that separated fixed and variable expenses from irregular incomeâcreating a framework that worked despite her income's unpredictable timing. She chose a spreadsheet-based approach rather than an app, which better matched her existing habits.
Clarity, Then Confidence
Within two months, she had her first complete monthly picture across all income and expense categories. She described it as "finally being able to see the instrument panel." She later enrolled in the Pre-Retirement Planning program with that foundation in place.
Substantial Gold Holdings, No Framework
A retired couple in their sixties had accumulated a significant amount of physical gold over three decades, primarily through traditional Thai gold shops. They had no way of evaluating how those holdings compared to other forms, or what liquidity they actually had available in practice.
Mapping What They Actually Held
The Gold and Precious Metals Awareness program helped them categorise their holdings clearlyâjewellery versus bar gold, the distinction in how each type is priced when selling, and the practical steps involved in liquidating either. They also learned how gold savings accounts worked differently and discussed whether any portion might sit better there.
A More Considered Approach Going Forward
They did not change their overall approach dramaticallyâbut they did move a portion into a gold savings account for easier access, and they understood for the first time exactly what their holdings were worth and how to access that value when needed. They described the program as "unexpectedly practical."
